Synchronized WMV HD Playback for
Multi-Screen Displays

The Microsoft Live Playback System (LPS) can advance your high definition video playback capabilities for live events, digital signage, tradeshows, and multi-display attractions. Make the most of your creative media presentations by maximizing the full impact and resolution of multiple HD display devices. With LPS, Windows Media® HD videos are controlled remotely and synchronized frame-accurately across the output of multiple Windows® XP PCs. The LPS Controller lets you command and sequence your high definition media on remote LPS Players via Ethernet from backstage or across town.

LPS is a Microsoft technology solution consisting of two software applications: the LPS Controller and the LPS Player. Together, these applications turn any Windows® XP WMV HD-capable PC into a remote controllable high-definition video player.

The LPS Player application is a DirectShow® compliant WMV HD video player specifically designed for synchronized playback to multidisplay presentations. The LPS Players are controlled exclusively from the LPS Controller application on a separate PC, assuring consistent, UI-free, video output. LPS lets you maximize the impact of your video presentations with cost-effective HD video playback that matches the higher native resolutions of today's projectors and flat-screens.

The LPS Controller application provides precise management and control of synchronized events across multiple players.

The Controller is a Visual Studio® .NET (C#) application with event, playlist and show control functionalities. Each Controller event can consist of many synchronized Players. XML playlists can be predefined, then saved and recalled for added flexibility.

Microsoft is launching a Live Playback System (LPS) licensing program. OEMs, ISVs and systems integrators may license LPS source code, object code, and documentation. They can combine the LPS technology with their products and commercialize the resulting systems.
