Codec Installation Packages for IT Professionals
Microsoft Windows Media codecs are automatically downloaded by Windows Media Player, including all Windows Media codec updates. The installation packages on this page are for IT Professionals and network administrators working in environments where corporate firewalls may prevent codec downloads. Important: If you are currently using Windows Media Player 10 and need to install Windows Media codecs, reinstall the player which provides the latest codec versions.
Codec Installation Package for Windows Media Player 7.1 and later
This package is for network administrators who want to deliver support for the latest Windows Media Audio and Video codecs for enterprise computers running Windows Media Player 7.1, Windows Media Player for Microsoft Windows XP, and Windows Media Player 9 Series.
Previous codec versions have been included to decode any data you may encounter that has been encoded with those older versions. This package contains the following codecs:
- Windows Media Audio 9
- Windows Media Audio 9 Voice
- Windows Media Video 7, 8, and 9
- Windows Media Video 9 Screen
- Microsoft MPEG-4 versions 1, 2, and 3
- ISO MPEG-4 versions 1 and 1.1
Note: If you do not have Windows Media Player 9 Series or later installed and cannot play content by using the Windows Media Video 9 or Windows Media Audio 9 Voice codecs from a Player embedded in a Web page, consider downloading the codec installation package for Windows Media Player 6.4 as well.
