Change Music or Video Playback Speed February 2005
With Windows Media Player 10, you can change the speed at which content plays. For example, you can slow down the playback speed if you are taking notes while watching a training video. Or you can speed up the slow sections of a presentation.
This article describes two ways you can change the playback speed. You can use the Fast-Forward or Rewind buttons, or you can play content at variable speeds by using the Play Speed Settings feature to change the playback speed while maintaining the audio and video quality.
To use the Fast-Forward or Rewind button to change playback speedIn Windows Media Player, begin playing content. - If you are playing an audio or video file:
To play at 1.4 times the normal speed, click the Fast Forward button once. To play at 2.0 times the normal speed, click the Fast Forward button twice. To play at 5.0 times the normal speed, click the Fast Forward button three times. To return to normal speed, click the Fast Forward button four times.
- If you are playing a video file only:
To rewind, click the Rewind button once. To return to normal speed, click the Rewind button twice.
To play content at variable speedsIn Windows Media Player, begin playing content.
