Allen Organ Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of electronic organs, was awarded a Catalyst Module development kit as part of an online promotion sponsored by Arrow Electronics. The Catalyst Module supports a range of operating systems including Windows XP Embedded, CE, and Embedded Standard.

RMI Corporation, a leading provider of high-performance processors for communication and media-rich applications, today introduced its game changing RMI Alchemy Au1300 Processor Family, targeted at consumer devices requiring high CPU performance, low power consumption, and rich media capabilities. RMI’s latest offering builds on its industry leading Au1250 Processor and now supports integrated 3D acceleration, performance up to 800MHz, and video decode resolution up to 720p including H.264 main profile. The Au1300 Family also includes further enhancements to power management resulting in industry-leading full-chip power rates of less than 1/2 watt at speed.

RMI Corporation today announced that it will be offering support for Microsoft’s Windows Live FrameIT service for RMI’s previously announced Home Media Player (HMP) solution. RMI’s committed support for Windows Live FrameIT service coupled with RMI’s advanced high performance multimedia Alchemy Au1250 Processor extends new features and capabilities to the Digital Photo Frame market. RMI’s turnkey HMP Processor solution drives advanced product capabilities such as video streaming, wireless connectivity, increased on-demand content and home connectivity, and enhances the overall consumer experience. RMI’s HMP Processor solution’s support of the FrameIT service will create an easy and seamless way for HMP users to access their content online.

Intrinsyc signed a Soleus license and engineering services agreement with Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS). ECS chose the Soleus software platform and Intrinsyc’s Solutions Engineering group to speed the development of a dual-function external dongle that will support high-speed wireless data communications over Mobile WiMAX and voice over Quad-Band EDGE networks.

Janz Automationssysteme AG has increased its family of CAN interface boards with a new member. With the CAN-PCIeL from now on a PCIexpress based CAN interface is available. With this interface board (in future for example an interface for miniPCI will follow) the bandwidth of the support for different system architectures will grow, to give customers the possibility to migrate to new system platforms.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announces the immediate availability of the AMD Sempron 210U and 200U processors for embedded systems. These new processors are available with five-year longevity that is standard for AMD embedded components and feature lidless Ball Grid Array (BGA) packaging with the low power and high performance of AMD's Direct Connect Architecture. This complete and robust embedded platform can help speed time to market and deliver the graphics and display options that are increasingly important in embedded systems.

Kontron kicks off the New Year with another multi-million euro order: the Walloon Transport Company in Belgium has opted for Kontron technologies for future complex applications. A corresponding master agreement entailing an order volume of over EUR 8 million has now been signed. As part of the first step, the plan is to equip over 2,500 buses from 2010 with an innovative system in the area of local public transport, which will ensure a significant boost in terms of safety, reliability, and punctuality.

EMAC, Inc., announces the SoM-9307, a 32-bit System on Module (SoM) based on the Cirrus ARM9 EP9307 200 MHz processor running CE 6.0. A SoM is a small embedded module that contains the core of a microprocessor system. The SoM-9307 is designed to plug into a carrier board that contains all the connectors and any custom I/O required for the application.

Portwell's new PEM-E200VLA and PCOM-B214VG embedded system boards take full advantage of the low-power and high performance-per-watt features of Intel’s Atom N270 processor, and are ideal for low-power systems and small form factor devices. With these recent additions, American Portwell Technology’s Intel Atom processor-based portfolio now includes Q7, Nano-ITX, ECX, UMPC, ETX, COM Express and Mini-ITX.
