Synchronise your Windows phone with your Windows PC

By syncing your phone with your computer, you can access your music, photos and Outlook contacts and e-mails easily - all your important files - whether you’re sitting in your office or your doctor’s waiting room. Because you’re always updating your files, it’s a good idea to synchronise regularly. There are only three steps required to sync your phone with your computer:

Step 1: Get ready

Grab your phone and the USB cable that came with it. If you need some additional help setting up and using your new phone, see the basics section for helpful how-to information.

Step 2: Download the PC synchronisation software

Your synchronisation settings will be managed through ActiveSync if you have Windows XP or earlier; Windows Mobile Device Center if you have Windows Vista or Windows 7.

If your start button looks like this, you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Windows Vista or Windows 7 Start button: Click to download Windows Mobile Device Center

If your start button looks like this, you are running Windows XP.

Windows XP Start button: Click to download ActiveSync

Step 3: Get Microsoft Office Outlook

To sync your phone’s e-mail, calendar and contacts with your PC, you need a current or previous version of Outlook. For the best experience, you’ll need the latest version. If you don’t have Office Outlook 2007 installed on your PC, get a free 60-day trial.
