Installing Microsoft Office OneNote Mobile


A: The latest version of Office Mobile allows you to work with all popular Microsoft Office document formats, including those created with Microsoft Office 2007. The new file format introduced in Microsoft Office 2007 reduces file size and improves security and reliability.
Using the new version of Microsoft Office Mobile you can:
  • Create rich charts in Excel Mobile

  • View the contents of compressed (zipped) folders
A: Yes, the new version of Microsoft Office Mobile allows you to work with documents created in previous versions of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office Mobile.
Microsoft Office Mobile 6.1 also allows you to view documents created in Pocket Word and Pocket Excel.
A: The latest version of Microsoft Office Mobile is designed to work on:
  • Windows Mobile 5.0 with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack (build numbers higher than 14847)
  • Windows Mobile 6 non-touch screen devices
  • Windows Mobile 6 touch screen devices

A: No, the latest version of Office Mobile does not support Windows Mobile 5.0 non-touch screen devices.
A: If your Windows Mobile device had Microsoft Office Mobile installed when you purchased it, you may be eligible for a free upgrade. You will be able to install this upgrade on your phone if you synch your phone with a PC running a recent version of Windows.

If your Windows Mobile device did not have Microsoft Office Mobile installed when you purchased it, you will first need to determine whether you own a compatible device. If your device can run the latest version of Microsoft Office Mobile, you’ll need to purchase and download the software.

A: The setup file is designed to be run on your Windows computer and will not work when run on the device.
A: If your computer and mobile device meet the system requirements, you should be prompted automatically to install the OneNote Mobile program on your mobile device. You can also install OneNote Mobile manually by opening Office OneNote 2007 on your PC, connecting your mobile device to your PC, and installing OneNote Mobile from the Tools menu. A: Restoring your device to factory settings removes the new version of Office Mobile from your device.

To reinstall Microsoft Office Mobile on your device:

  • Connect your device to your computer using ActiveSync or, if your computer is running Windows Vista, the Windows Mobile Device Center.
  • Open Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs on your computer
  • Select Microsoft Office Mobile and click Repair
A: This message can be ignored. Windows Mobile 5.0 devices with a build higher than 14847 are supported. Don’t know what version of Windows Mobile you have? On your phone, press Start, select Settings, and then select About.
A: Cancel the installation on the device, uninstall Office Mobile from the Add/Remove Programs section in the Control Panel on your PC, and then retry the installation. When you are prompted for the install location, select the storage card.
A: If you had a previous version of Office Mobile on your Windows Mobile device, the old Office Mobile icons might not have been removed and you might see two sets of icons. Either set will launch the new version of Office Mobile.
A:Charts in an Excel 2003 workbook that include the "Data as values" option cannot be displayed in Excel Mobile. If you are creating an Excel document to be viewed on a mobile device, you can avoid this issue by using the "Data by reference" option when creating charts on your computer.
