How to install an application for your phone from a .cab file |
| You install software applications for your mobile phone in one of two ways, depending on how the software is provided to you: Either the file that installs the program runs on your PC, and you then copy the program files onto your mobile phone; or You copy a "package" of files (in the form of a .cab file—short for cabinet file) from your PC to your mobile phone, and the installation program runs on your mobile phone.

| The steps for installing an application from a .cab file are: | Connect your phone to your PC with a USB cable. Navigate to the application you want to download (either on your PC or on a Web site). Open ActiveSync on your PC. Click Explore. Copy the file to \Storage\Windows\Start Menu\Accessories on your device. Click Start > Accessories, and scroll to the .cab file. If you don't see the file in Accessories, use File Manager to find and open the file. Open the .cab file. The application will automatically install itself on your mobile phone.
