| Do you keep sensitive information on your phone’s storage card? If your storage card or phone is lost or stolen, will other people’s personal information or your organization’s data be compromised? You can prevent other people from reading files saved to your storage card by encrypting the information so that only your phone can read it. |

| Click Start > Settings System tab, and then click Encryption. Select the Encrypt files when placed on a storage card check box.
|
| Tips | Back up any data you store on the storage card to another location, like your computer or a CD. If you ever reset your phone to factory default settings, you will lose access to the encrypted files; by saving the files to another location, you can access them there. If you want to encrypt files on one storage card but not another, you will need to change the encryption option each time you change storage cards. You don’t need to encrypt individual files on your storage card. All files are automatically encrypted as they are copied. When you view the encrypted files on your phone, the encryption is automatically removed, so you can send the files to other people. You can also copy the files from your storage card to your phone to remove the encryption.
