Sync music, photos, videos, and other files with
File Explorer in ActiveSync

So you want to sync music, pictures, videos, and other files between your phone and computer but don’t know how to do this with your Windows Mobile phone? Use File Explorer in Microsoft ActiveSync to synchronize media files between your phone and your computer. Don’t forget: ActiveSync is only compatible with Windows XP or earlier. If you run Windows Vista or Windows 7, you’ll want to learn about synchronizing media files with Windows Mobile Device Center.

Sync music, photos, videos, and files to and from your phone with File Explorer in ActiveSync

  • Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable.
  • If you haven’t set up your phone to synchronize with your computer, when the Synchronization Setup Wizard page appears, click Cancel. Otherwise, go to Step 3.
  • On your computer, in ActiveSync, click Explore.
  • Browse to the files that you want to transfer either to or from your phone. Copy and paste the files to the destination folder.
Tip  If you use Windows Media Player to manage your media, remember to update your media library after you finish the transfer.
