Windows phone
Windows Mobile Device Center has a lot of settings you can experiment with after you’ve successfully synchronized all that important Microsoft Office Outlook information to your phone. Don’t forget: Windows Mobile Device Center is only compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you run Windows XP or earlier, you’ll want to learn about Microsoft ActiveSync settings.

You can use the Connection Settings and Outlook Settings in Windows Mobile Device Center to change the way your phone connects to your computer and the way your phone synchronizes Office Outlook information from your computer.

Note  The first time you sync your phone with your computer, you need to use a USB cable connection.

Connection settings

You have the following connection settings options in the Connection Settings dialog box:
  • Allow a USB cable connection between your phone and your computer.
  • Allow a Bluetooth connection between your phone and your computer (if both devices are Bluetooth-enabled), or allow your phone to connect to one of your computer’s COM ports.
  • Connect to a work network or to the Internet.
  • Allow your phone to be authenticated automatically when it connects to a secure network, such as a work network.
  • Connect to a data network while your phone is connected to a computer.
To access your sync settings for Office Outlook, connect your phone to your computer through your phone’s USB cable, open Windows Mobile Device Center, click Mobile Device Settings, and then click Change content sync settings.
