Sync music, photos, videos, and other files with
File Management in Windows Mobile Device Center

So you want to sync music, pictures, videos, and other files between your phone and computer but don’t know how to do this with your Windows Mobile phone? Use File Management in Windows Mobile Device Center to synchronize media files between your phone and your computer. Don’t forget: Windows Mobile Device Center is only compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you run Windows XP or earlier, you’ll want to learn about synchronizing media files with Microsoft ActiveSync.
  • Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable.
  • If you haven’t set up your phone to synchronize with your computer, click Connect without setting up your device. Otherwise, go to Step 3.
  • Point to File Management, and then, in the drop-down menu, click Browse the contents of your device.
  • Browse to the folder on your computer where the media files are stored, and copy them. Browse to the folder on your phone where you want to put the media files, and then copy them to your phone.

Tips

  • You can also use File Management to transfer media between your computer and your phone’s storage card.
  • You can sync any file—not just media files—between your computer and your phone by using File Management. But, if you are planning to view or edit the file, make sure that you have the appropriate software on your phone to open the file.
