Steps to allow ActiveSync ports in Zone Alarm
Security Suite

Use the following steps to allow ActiveSync ports in Zone Alarm Security Suite.

  • Start the Zone Alarm Security Suite application.

  • In the main window, click on the "Program Control" tab in the left pane. Click Add.

  • Navigate to the Microsoft ActiveSync installation folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\ if installed in C drive with default settings) and select the WCESMgr file. Click Open.

  • You will notice a new application has been added to the Program Control list. Please set the following by clicking on the corresponding box and selecting the value listed as shown.

    Trust Level = Trusted, Access = Trusted Internet both checked, Server = Trusted Internet both checked, Send Mail = checked

  • Repeat steps 3 and 4 to add the applications listed below. (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\ if installed in C drive with default settings)

    When all of these are added, the "Program Control" window should show these programs in the list as all checked.

    • Wcescomm.exe
    • Rapimgr.exe
    • CEAPPMGR.exe
  • In the Main window, click on the "Firewall" tab in the left pane. Click on the "Expert" tab in the main window.

  • In the Expert Rules screen, click Add.

  • In the "Add Rule" pop-up window, provide a name for the rule in the "Name" field. Navigate to "Add Protocol" menu item as shown.

  • When adding a protocol, make sure the following entries are set as shown: Protocol = TCP, Description = ActiveSync TCP, Destination = Other; Any, Source Port = Other, Any. Click on OK until you navigate back to the main screen.
