French Yacht Team Streamlines Design with Secure, Familiar Technology
The America's Cup is the ultimate prize in yacht racing. AREVA Challenge, the French entry for the 32nd America's Cup race, needed a powerful, flexible technology to create a vessel capable of challenging for victory. Although the AREVA Challenge team had already used some Microsoft® technology, together with open source solutions, it realized it needed a more powerful platform if it was to create a serious contender. Having considered the alternatives available, the team chose to deploy Windows® Compute Cluster Server 2003, a powerful solution that lets the team run parallel, high-performance computing applications supporting improved communications, knowledge sharing, and security. With the new technology in place, the team has decreased the time it takes to process complex data, simplified the exchange of information across machines, and boosted security.
