TechNet Webcast: Windows Compare (Part 6 of 6): Open Source on Windows (Level 200)In this last part of our Windows Compare webcast series, we look at how Windows is the only operating system that can not only run the Microsoft solutions stack of Microsoft SQL Server, Internet Information Services (IIS), and the Microsoft .NET Framework, but also can run the equivalent Open Source stack of Apache, MySQL, and PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP). In this session, we look at the Open Source stack and discuss what is required to run these products, explain how to install them, and examine how to configure them in a Windows-based environment compared to a Linux environment.
Presenter: Keith Combs, TechNet Presenter, Microsoft Corporation
A Texan with "decent intelligence and a good base of experience to draw from," Keith Combs does not mince words. He enjoys working with both software and hardware, and he thrives on helping customers solve thorny problems. The world has come to rely on e-mail, Web servers, and file servers, and Keith loves showing people how to make the most out of these essential and emerging products. His greatest challenge? Keeping up with the lightning pace of innovation, technology, and information overload—no kidding! If he ever abandoned the server room for good, Keith would become your favorite driving range target, ducking golf balls in the cage tractor.
