What Is the Midrange Alliance
The Midrange Alliance is an ecosystem of independent software vendors (ISV) and system integrators that bridge the gap between midrange systems and the Windows platform. The Midrange Alliance Program (MAP) partners use a variety of legacy modernization approaches and technologies with a focus and understanding that comes from years of supporting midrange systems.

Windows Platform Provides the Base for Legacy Modernization
In the past, many System i users were skeptical about using Windows as an enterprise operating system. But Windows is now viewed as a robust, stable, and manageable platform with great development tools, easy administration, and low cost. Many System i shops already run Windows on servers alongside or inside of their System i servers for mission critical applications such as e-mail, business intelligence, ERP, and supply chain. In fact, 42 percent of all mission critical applications run on Windows today (source IDC).
Like i5/OS, the Windows platform is integrated from the applications on the client to the server. And like the original AS/400, which gave users a single developer environment and a cohesive infrastructure, Windows offers low cost of ownership, easier development, great business agility, and simplified administration.
