New to Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the Manage Your Server Wizard consolidates configuration tools and features into one place, enabling administrators to set up and manage profiles called server roles for one or more servers. Server roles can be set with the Configure Your Server Wizard, and the changes are then reflected in the Manage Your Server Wizard so that administrators can change profiles as a server's role changes.

Server roles cover all aspects of server management, from print and file services to streaming media and remote access. The wizard allows administrators to do the following:

Install, configure, and administer up to 11 server roles.

View the status of assigned roles.

Obtain software updates, view help resources.

Find other useful Microsoft Web site links.

With Remote Desktop for Administrators, server administrators can configure, deploy, and redeploy server roles for any server across a network from virtually anyplace in the world.

Trustworthy Computing Environment

Under the Microsoft Trustworthy Computing Environment initiative, every line of code underlying the Windows Server 2003 family was reviewed to identify possible fail points and exploitable weaknesses. Like all other Windows Server 2003 components, the Manage Your Server Wizard benefits from this focus on Trustworthy Computing. In addition, Windows Server 2003 includes Software Update Services (SUS), which makes it easier to install critical updates as they become available. SUS enables administrators to deploy critical updates quickly and reliably to their Windows–based servers and to most desktop computers.
