Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), which provides enhanced security, increased reliability, and simplified administration for enterprise customers across all industries, was made available on March 30, 2005.

Customers who administer servers that are connected to the Internet will receive Windows Server 2003 SP1 through Windows Update (WU) or Microsoft Update (MU), and through Automatic Updates (AU) starting July 26th, 2005.

Customers who require additional time to prepare for the download and deployment of Windows Server 2003 SP1 can use a "blocker" tool kit that Microsoft is providing (similar to the blocker tool provided for Windows XP SP2), to delay deployment.

The Windows Server 2003 SP1 Blocker Tool Kit is effective until March 30, 2006.

Note: Windows Server 2003 SP1 requires the user to accept and initiate its installation. Even if the service pack automatically downloads through AU or MU, a server administrator must explicitly accept and install the service pack before it will install.
