In Windows Server 2003, overall kernel scalability was improved on large x86-based and 64-bit systems with eight or more processors. To do this, detailed analysis with both software and hardware tools on systems with up to 32 processors was used. This document provides an overview of the improvements that have been made to scheduling, memory management, kernel spinlocks, and the heap as well as processes, threads, handles, objects, and named pipes.
