Windows Server 2003 is a secure, reliable and productive platform for running mission critical applications. Leading independent software vendors (ISVs) are actively testing, updating, and developing server applications that support changes made to the Windows Server 2003 family.

For more information, see the Windows Application and Customer Experience Web site.

Certified and Supported Applications

Applications developed to run on Windows Server 2003 fall into two categories: certified applications and supported applications. Certified applications are a subset of the supported applications and have been tested by an independent third-party company. Supported applications come from ISVs committed to providing application support for Windows Server 2003.

Certified Applications

The Certified for Windows (CfW) program certifies applications that have been tested for the highest levels of availability, reliability, security, and supportability. VeriTest, an independent third-party company, conducts and validates these tests based on Microsoft-provided specifications.

For the complete list of certified applications and related reports, see Certified Applications on the Veritest Web site.

For a list of companies whose applications have been, or are in the process of becoming certified for Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition, see Datacenter ISVs.

Supported Applications

For applications in the "supported" category, ISVs will provide support for their applications deployed on Windows Server 2003. There is no independent test for ISVs to qualify as "supported" and therefore "supported applications" do not carry a logo. Both certified and supported applications can be found in the Windows Server Catalog.

Also available are 64-bit applications. Microsoft has been working closely with ISVs to make 64-bit, production-ready applications available to customers using Windows Server 2003, Enterprise and Datacenter Editions. To learn more about ISVs offering 64-bit applications, see 64-Bit ISVs.

Windows Server Catalog

The Windows Server Catalog is your one-stop online source to find hardware and software built for the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family. The catalog lists hardware devices that have earned the Designed for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 logo, certified software products that have earned the Certified for Windows Server 2003 logo, as well as supported software products.

The Windows Server Catalog will launch in conjunction with Windows Server 2003. It will be very similar to the existing Windows XP Catalog.
