| Windows Server Update Services to keep Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 up to date Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) enables you to automate the installation of critical updates and service packs to client computers on your Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 network. This allows you to keep computers on your network, both desktops and servers, up-to-date with critical updates that protect your network and improve your security. If you have Windows Small Business Server 2003, you can use Microsoft Update to keep your server up-to-date with critical updates and service packs for Windows Small Business Server, Windows Server, Exchange Server, SQL Server, Windows SharePoint Services, and other Microsoft applications. By using the Automatic Updates feature of Microsoft Update, you can receive notification when critical updates become available for your computer, and you can choose whether to install them automatically. Follow these steps to help keep your server up to date:

| If you are running Windows Small Business Server 2003, we highly recommend that you install the service packs for each of the product technologies in Windows Small Business Server 2003.
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) introduces a number of refinements to the operating system and includes a collection of updates that provide enhanced security, increased reliability, and simplified administration. Most customers will be able to, and should install Windows Server 2003 SP2 from the Microsoft Download Center. Windows Server 2003 SP2 is now included in retail editions of Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2. Many OEMs also distribute Windows Server 2003 SP2 with their products. See Knowledge Base article 932600, Knowledge Base article 936594 and Release Notes for Windows SBS 2003 R2 for more information. Small Business Server 2003 Service Pack 1 If you're currently running SBS 2003, get the software and security updates you need for your server with these important service packs. Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 Enhance your messaging environment with mobile e-mail improvements, better protection against spam, advanced mailbox improvements, and more. Prior to installing this service pack, please read the release notes. If you want to run Windows Vista or use Outlook 2007 in your Windows SBS network, you need to install several compatibility updates.
