I'd need to know the specific series of that Intel CPU, since they don't make
it any easier than they have to. However, I'd bet the answer is no, since I
don't think any of the CPUs that support EM64T are less than 3GHz. But the
concept is not at all the same -- it really has nothing to do with buss
speed, or hyperthreading, but has to do with whether the chip is 64-bit.

And if you could install it, you would have to buy another copy for the new
computer, since it is OEM

Charlie, I was wondering if Intel SpeedStep Technology and Executive disable
bit Technology will work on Windows XP 64bit. Thank you!

my goodness, that's an old post you're replying to!
No clue about SpeedStep, but I'd assume it does. OTOH, execute disable is
definitely supported and used.

Charlie,
I have an Athlon 64 bit processor and am considering upgrading from XP pro
to x64, however, I am concerned that x64 will not support all my hardware,
i.e., not have all the drivers I need. Also, will Office 2003 still run in an
x64 enviroment?

There is no upgrade path from Windows XP Professional x86 to Windows XP
Professional X64, clean installs only, but you can create a separate
partition and install it on it. Office 2003 runs just fine on Windows XP
Professional X64. As for hardware, that depends, its best you do a thorough
research to find out if your existing devices have drivers available from
the manufacturers web site. Charlie will add more detailed information.
