When trying to update using the windows update feature in
IE 6 I get 3 messages. First I get a message that says
this site is for Administrators only. 2nd I get a
messeage saying "Your current security settings prohibit
running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the
page may not display properly." 3rd, I get the same as
the second message. I have made sure that the user is an
Administrator. All users are Administrators. I have
also gone through the settings for ActiveX under Internet
Options and made sure that all the controls are enabled.
It appears that maybe ActiveX is the main problem. What
am I missing?

Try re-registering the following .dll files (winxp)
Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Urlmon.dll

1. Click Start >Run and type
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
Click okay to register it
You should get a dialog box telling you that it was successful.
2. Repeat the process for the other .dll files.
3. Restart your computer and try the update site again.

if the above doesn't help -
