Using other programs in Media Center

There are a lot of great programs made specifically for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, such as an alarm clock, or a Solitaire game that you can play with your remote. Your Media Center PC might already have several such programs installed, so take a look to see what you have in your More Programs folder.
To use other programs with Media Center, follow these steps:
  1. Press the Green Start Button on your remote to open the Media Center Start menu, and then select More Programs.
  2. Media Center Start menu with More Programs selected
  3. Select the program you want to run.
  4. More Programs page with the Alarm Clock program selected
Media Center starts the program, which you can then control with your remote.
If you have unwanted icons in More Programs, remove them by following these steps:
Note: When you remove unwanted icons, you are hiding them from the More Programs list. The programs still exist on your computer.
  1. Press the Green Start Button on your remote to open the Media Center Start menu, and then select More Programs.
  2. Media Center Start menu with More Programs selected
  3. Highlight the program you want to remove, press the MORE INFO button on your remote, and then select Remove.
  4. More Programs page with Alarm Clock program highlighted and the Remove option selected from the MORE INFO menu
  5. In the Remove Programs dialog box, select Yes.
  6. More Programs page with Yes selected from the Remove Program dialog box
