Download pictures from your digital camera

Have more fun with your digital pictures. Download them to your Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005-based PC, and you can view, touch up, print, and share your pictures with friends and family. It’s easy to download pictures with Media Center. Just connect your camera or memory card to your computer, and Media Center will guide you through the steps to download your pictures.

Once your pictures are on your computer, you can view them on a larger screen and decide which ones are worth keeping. You can also erase the pictures from your camera, freeing up memory so you can take more pictures.

To copy your pictures from your digital camera to your Media Center PC, follow these steps:
  1. Press the Green Start Button on the remote to open the Media Center Start menu. If Media Center is in windowed mode, press the Green Start Button a second time to change to full-screen mode.
  2. Connect your digital camera to your computer.

    • Use a USB cable. Most digital cameras come with a cable that connects the camera to a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port on your computer.

Connect your memory card reader to your computer.
    • Use a memory card and memory card reader. A memory card reader is a piece of hardware that is built into your computer or that plugs right into your computer. You remove the memory card from your camera and insert it into your memory card reader similar to the way you might transfer a file between two computers using a floppy disk.
    • Tip: It's usually faster to use a memory card reader to copy your pictures than to connect your camera to your computer with a cable.
