Retouch photos to remove blemishes

Published: December 20, 2005

Often, a great photo is ruined by a breakout of acne, a mole or birthmark that you'd rather not have in the picture or other blemishes on the skin that simply make your photo less than ideal. Now you can easily and quickly retouch skin blemishes in your photos using a photo-editing program like Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006.

Note

Before you begin any work on a picture, make a copy, and do all your work on the copy.

Letting the touch-up begin

Using Digital Image Suite 2006, you'll see how doing some minor touch-ups can make a good photo even better. In this example, we'll remove a blemish on the skin to enhance the final photo.

To remove a blemish

1.

With your picture open in Digital Image Suite 2006 Editor, in the Common Tasks list, click the Touchup menu arrow, and then click Smart Erase.

2.

Draw a small selection area around the blemish by dragging the pointer around the blemish (the pointer will turn to a crosshair when you click and begin to drag).

When you return to your starting point, the pointer will change from a crosshair to a crosshair with a black box in the center. This pointer indicates that the selection is complete. Release the mouse button.

3.

Once you've selected the blemish, click Fill in. The blemish disappears. Click Done to make the change permanent.
