The Winter Screen Saver PowerToy brings the holiday season right to your desktop. This screen saver includes a series of winter landscapes seen through a rustic window that frosts over while snow gently falls. Enjoy the images that come with the program or add your own photos with just a few clicks of the mouse. You can even configure the screen saver to display special images on specific days of the year.

This program works with Windows XP only.

Display winter landscapes on your screen saver

1.

Download and install the program.

Note This program is included in the Digital Photography Winter Fun Pack 2003.

2.

Right-click anywhere on your desktop.

3.

Select properties.

4.

Choose the Screen Saver tab.

5.

Click the down arrow and scroll down to select Winter Fun Photos.

Now your screen saver will display wintery scenes.

Customize your screen saver with your own images

Once you've chosen the Winter Screen Saver Powertoy as your default screen saver, you can now customize it. The default winter images are located in the "\My documents\My Pictures\Windows XP Fun Pack\Winter 2003\Wallpaper\" folder. You can add your own pictures to this folder manually or you can use the options window.

From the options menu, click the browse button and find a folder of your images that you'd like to use as your screen saver.

Click Apply or OK and next time your screen saver is displayed you'll see your photos. If you click cancel, the previous screen saver settings are not changed.

Note:  For best performance, avoid selecting very large folders or network drives and only check Include All Subfolders on folders local to your computer with a reasonable number of image files (less than 600).

Program specific images to appear in your screen saver on special days

The screen saver can display special images on any day of the year. For example, you could have a unique screen saver for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or any other special occasion.

When you installed the program it created one subfolder for each day of the year in the \My documents\My Pictures\Windows XP Fun Pack\Winter 2003\Wallpaper\ folder. Just copy the images you want to appear in your screen saver into the folder for the day you'd like them to appear.

In the screen saver options window check the box next to Override Images on Special Days.

Note:  If you place any images in that folder, they will override normal screen saver settings on that day only.
