You can start and quit Microsoft Windows Media Player the same way you start other programs (such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and so on).

To start the Player
There are several ways to start Windows Media Player, but the following procedure shows an easy and sure-fire way to start it.

  • On the taskbar, click Start.

  • Point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then point to Entertainment.

  • Click Windows Media Player.

Finding Windows Media Player in the All Programs list

Tip When you use Windows Media Player regularly, Windows XP adds it to the Start menu's most frequently used programs list (along with names of other programs that you have used recently). When the Player is listed on the Start menu, you can simply click Windows Media Player to start it.

To quit the Player

  • In Windows Media Player, on the File menu, click Exit.

Tip To quit the Player quickly, press ALT+F4.
