Set up alerts
With Windows Messenger, you can make sure you are never out of sync with the world around you. Using Microsoft Alerts, a free service in Windows Messenger, you can find out about the important events and opportunities you don't want to miss, such as stock changes, special events, and even local traffic jams. You can have the alerts sent to your computer through e-mail or delivered directly to your mobile phone or handheld device.
Note: Some alerts are available only to paying subscribers of a .NET service, and some content providers require you to make a purchase in order to receive alerts. Microsoft Alerts does not charge you to receive alerts on your mobile device. However, many wireless service providers charge you to receive text messages, including alerts, and may also charge you each time you reply to an alert.
