tip

Tip: You can turn off the sound effects Windows Messenger plays by clicking the Tools menu, clicking Options, and clicking the Preferences tab. In the Alerts area, clear the Play sound when contacts sign in or send a message check box. Click OK. This procedure silences Windows Messenger so that the sound effects will not play until you turn them on again.
