Checking Your Version of Windows Messenger

To check the version of Windows Messenger for Windows XP that is installed on your computer

Start Windows Messenger. (Double click the Windows Messenger icon Windows Messenger iconnear the clock in the lower right corner of your screen.)

Click Help, and then click About Windows Messenger.

If you have Version 4.0, you can download the update to the latest version from the Internet at no charge.
