HERTA: My name is Herta. SPEAKER 1: A Surface device. HERTA: I lived for 22 years, and I don't like to live anywhere else. SPEAKER 1: Chris Dury. CHRIS DURY: ECH is the largest provider of integrated retirement living accommodation and aging care services in South Australia. We are a registered charity and not for profit organization helping thousands of older people in South Australia every day. When the pandemic hit, it was one of the most challenging periods we had ever faced. We had to change our work practices. We had to get people to work from home in a hybrid manner that we had never done before. LEONA MARKHAM: Our registered nurses would be doing around 20 visits a week. SPEAKER 1: [inaudible]. LEONA MARKHAM: Without the technology, we wouldn't be able to function. CHRIS DURY: Microsoft teams and Surface devices have greatly enhanced our nursing service. An example of this is our nurses making a home visit with a client. They're able to dial in other allied health professionals or even our GPs to help consult on their integrated care plan. LEONA MARKHAM: When we are administering certain medications to our clients, we need two nurses. One nurse can be in the office or in a different site. They can even be sitting in their car, and the other nurse in the home can call that nurse and do a team's call and enable that check to be done through the technology. It also is quite empowering for our clients where they can be part of that consultation process. CHRIS DURY: The integration of technology is important for ECH because it allows us to enhance the care and services we provide so we can maintain the personal connection that our clients really value. Microsoft made this easier for us by providing a single ecosystem for software and devices where everything just works seamlessly. LEONA MARKHAM: The Surface Pro has been very beneficial. It also enables us to send photos and information directly to the client's GP. CHRIS DURY: In the past, we had issues with performance and reliability of our systems. Because a lot of our workforce are out in the community it's really important for our staff to be able to communicate with one another and collaborate on important client issues. This is enabled by Microsoft Surface Hubs, which we have in a lot of our meeting rooms now, and all of our meetings are now enabled with teams links so that staff can join from any location. We've also deployed 140 new Surface pros and Surface laptop goes this year, and Windows Autopilot means our staff can set up their device in about 10 minutes, which is a really big time saver for us. Another factor that we have to be really aware of is security, which is so important in H care. There's no room for error when you need to get to a client on time to prevent a potentially life changing event. We've deployed EMS, including in tune and endpoint manager, which lets us control every device. With these technologies in place, we're a lot less worried about security. We're also rolling out dynamics to our call center, which will not only reduce call wait times, but enable us to deliver more personalized services to clients that they really value. LEONA MARKHAM: There is such a human touch to what we do, and it's a real privilege to be able to visit people at home and care for them. The technology that we have available to us makes that job easier. CHRIS DURY: The next steps for us is to continue to innovate in new technologies and new ways to serve our clients so that we can enable them to live at home for as long as possible. SPEAKER 1: Microsoft Surface for Business. Microsoft.
