with thousands of customers at
any given time across all
geographical locations,
regions, and time zones.
The work done by my
team is to enable
EY as a business
function optimally with
innovative solutions that offer
an intuitive digital experience
across all device landscapes for
our more than 300,000 employees.
We implemented our
solution to foster
collaboration with
external non-EY users.
One of the challenges
we're dealing with was to
ensure our EY customers will
essentially have a similar
unified experience
to our existent EY users.
We require several levels of
onboarding which
also meant we had to
perform multiple pre-steps prior
to EY users collaborating
with their external partners.
Microsoft Purview Information
Protection Platform
and its underlined and
sensitivity labels
allowed EY to implement
privileges and restrictions
for SharePoint,
Teams, OneDrive, Outlook,
and Microsoft 365
groups as a whole.
Sensitivity labels allowed
EY users to distinguish
user collaboration
scopes within a Microsoft
applications based on guest
memberships and activity.
This was important to ensure
our invited EY guests would not
discover or stumble upon
any confidential EY data to
establish our native
guest access solution
involved using Azure
Active Directory for
guest user invitation and
Azure Active Directory
Access Reviews for governance
and identity management.
This solution was a
game changer because it
allowed us to leverage
technology that was
already available.
Essentially, we're
doing more with less.
We assess and analyze
security posture using
Microsoft Defender suite
of products coupled
with the breadth and
depths of visibility
provided by Microsoft Sentinel.
We are able to measure
the security posture
of our solution continuously.
A guest user invited into
an M365 Group for
collaborating in Teams or
SharePoint can freely
collaborate with
an EY user within the
boundaries of that group,
and ensuring the privacy,
security, and data integrity
are kept in check.
The experience is seamless.
They simply can go
into the application,
initiate an invite out
to an external EY user,
and bring them into the
collaboration unit.
We went from having
about 100,000 Microsoft
365 groups with
virtually no guests or
external EY users
to have an over
600,000 groups with
over 6,000 guest users.
The growth in EY's
Azure AD landscape
is a testament to the
solution that we built.
