it takes sometimes 2-3 weeks
for a developer to
get their laptop,
get it set up with
the right tools,
get connectivity
to the endpoints.
Utilizing Dev Box,
I can with a push of a button,
spin up a development
environment.
I have all the tools that I
need within minutes
in the Cloud.
LAKSHMI JAGAN:
A new person coming into
the application can spin it up,
pick the image that they need,
and they're up in 30 minutes.
RAVI SAMBANGI:
Everything
is already installed,
all the databases, data
resources, stories, shared files.
Most of us work in more than
one project simultaneously.
Each Dev Box can be
configured with a
different set of tools.
If we are working on
multiple assignments,
we have been assigned
with multiple Dev Boxes.
MICHAEL ANDERSON:
Most of the world's going
to zero trust models,
so everything is denied
until you're allowed.
JONATHAN SCHULTZ:
It's all
centered around isolation and
individual applications
only having
access to the resources
scope to them.
MICHAEL ANDERSON:
To keep
that zero trust model,
I can pick the actual
Dev Box images
that I want my
developers to use,
I can allocate those
to the subscription.
They can't go anywhere else.
JONATHAN SCHULTZ:
Then for
external contractors,
in particular, it's
the exact same thing.
They have access to
the Azure resources
that they should
and nothing more.
LAKSHMI JAGAN:
Nothing is on the laptop,
so it makes it very secure.
We can manage compliance
just because Dev Box
is within Intune.
MICHAEL ANDERSON:
Developers love it
because they can spin
up and have their base
image ready immediately.
But they also have the
capability to actually extend
the capabilities and add
other tools provided our
policies allow for that.
RAVI SAMBANGI:
Nobody
expected that it will
be that easy for
them to develop,
deploy, publish, everything,
so they're very happy about it.
JONATHAN SCHULTZ:
Dev Box enabled us to
improve our product
in unexpected ways,
because we get the speed factor.
It's crazy fast for working
with those Azure resources.
MICHAEL ANDERSON:
As we expand
our technology at GM,
working with a partner
like Microsoft,
who has the capabilities
of the Azure Cloud,
it's very, very key for us.
Technology's our future to
where we're trying to go.
