and I am the CIO of Invitalia.
- So my first point with you Fabrizio is,
can you talk little bit about Invitalia?
What it does and why it's so strategic
for the Italian nation?
- True, Invitalia is the National Agency
for Inward Investment
and Economic Development.
It is owned by the Italian
Ministry of Economy and Finance.
So, really we are the...
So, arm of the Ministry
of Economic Development
to develop all the
incentive found initiatives
to help Italy to grow, to
help the company to grow.
And also is, it's very important because
we are a part of the Central Government.
And I think that we have a
lot of activity that we do
for the ministry.
- One other point about
this project is that,
what was the needs that
you were going to fulfill?
- When, okay.
The breaks one of the crisis start,
our CIO was called by the
Prime Minister to become,
the responsible for emergencies.
So it was,
and so he moved from our company
to go directly to civil protection,
to start with all the activities.
But they need...
They didn't have any system to collect
medical devices from all over the world.
And so it was also a strange situation.
Now we speak in a different way
because the time is different.
But if you remember, two months ago
it was a sort of a nightmare.
So, there were a lot of buyer,
hysteric buyer,
and really if you seller
of this kind of devices,
but I think that in this case,
you can appreciate in a different way,
what means to have a good system,
because for sure, we...
And also a good team.
So typically, for a good
project you need the two things,
a good product, a good customer,
and they go the system integrator.
- I mean, you mentioned two
weeks without sleep at night
and working 24 hours.
I mean that from idea to implementation
this project was two weeks.
And when your team worked very
hard with Microsoft Services
with the AGIC partner,
how did you describe that time?
Did you see even under the crisis,
so with people that cannot really work
in the same environment
and has to work remotely,
what do you remember of that experience?
- So I was really impressed
not only by my people,
because for sure my people were involved
with also because our
CIO was the responsible
for these crisis.
And, but also for the others,
because everyone understood
the critical situation.
And we really were
involved in this critical
targets because we understood that
it was very very important to
reach the targets, to reach.
Because,
our colleagues needs this.
So we had...
so a first wave with our
40 people that went there.
Has started to work manually,
but after two weeks,
they understood that it was
quite impossible to continue.
And in that manner,
because it was impossible
to manage hundreds
sellers in this way.
This was very very critical.
And so, they asked to us to have a system
and we started to implement the system,
to configure the system.
So I am very very proud of
my people, but I am also,
proud also of our partners.
So the people of Microsoft,
the people of AGIC.
They spent the time.
- Which has been the biggest
advantages that platform
that you created has provide that to you?
I've learned that you move from
a months of buying process to few days.
I mean, can you better explain
which have the advantages
that such platform deliver to you
and to the country of course?
- We needed to contact
hundreds of sellers,
hundreds of Pharma contemporary,
because we are trying to
collect all of the equipment
that was possible at the time.
So, we launched the like bid with hundreds
supplier, and we try to
understand who has availability
in that moment.
Then, we send a fly to go
there to collect immediately
the device and come back directly.
So we have to manage like,
this operation, like an army operation.
And we used..
And also then we have to
distribute this equipment
directly from the harbor in Italy,
to the different hospital.
At that time, the people
were without mask,
without the protection, without...
So the device that were
very very useful to maintain
the people in intensive therapy.
And so, it was a sort
of a transferring hands.

Immediately, because I
remember that we called also
some people there we worked
with also with our embassy,
in different country to do this.
- Do you believe Fabrizio that
this platform can be useful
anywhere in the Public Administration?
There are many places
where this can be adopted.
I mean, which is your idea about
spreading this through the
Public Administration General
helping digital transformation
of a public company.
- For sure what is
important in this platform
that is connected with the
other Microsoft platform.
And it's very easy also to
create an end to end solution.
Probably, for our point of view,
we understood that we
need also some other piece
because we don't use all the platform.
We use only two module in the platform
and we are starting to
use the Turret module.
But for sure is very useful.
It could be very useful
for Public Administration
because it's really easy to use.
We installed the platform
in two days and half.
Just so, only for installation.
But what is...
It was also the opportunity
because all the chain was ready
and was conscious of the urgency.
And so it's not normal situation.
And also to work because
we decide we wasn't.
So in some manner we
create a sort of group
that discuss and implement contemporary.
So we discuss and it's sort of...
So we work in a jail and so it was
a sort of continuous jail for 15 days.

So we decided to go in the
population of the platform,
because we need to concentrate
on the more critical
functionalities and so we need...
We have also to create a platform
easy to use for our people.
And so, we decide a lot
of choice was to simplify
and simplify and simplify.

when you create a platform.
But in this case, we had clear in mind,
that we have to simplify for our people,
because this was very
very important simplify.

to have the same situation
in the standard, but for

you understand that this is possible.
