Having strong technology can absolutely transform a hospital. Milton Keynes University Hospital is seen as one of the most innovative in the NHS. We're passionate about providing the best possible care, and we're keen to do that in a seamless way. - Working in healthcare, obviously the data we look after is incredibly sensitive and we know that Microsoft is looking after our data very securely. The connectivity and migration to Microsoft Azure is incredibly smooth, fast, and efficient. And once you've got that, that allows you to innovate at pace - I mean, ultimately, the hospital's there to care for patients. And as a clinician I want to provide the best care for those patients I can. Microsoft's Office 365 was a key part of our strategy. That opens up all sorts of possibilities, it's a real enabler of remote working. Of all the products in the Office 365 suite, the one that we have seen the most exponential use of over the last 12 to 18 months would be Teams. That that has been really quite dramatic. People have learned to use it and they like it. We've also used it for patient consultations, and our video consultations and things. - So for us in clinical practice, what we really want to be able to achieve is getting the potential for our electronic health record in real time, and change that data into information that's meaningful. Power BI has proven to be a really effective interface. - It's just a game changer for us, much easier way to manipulate and share data. If we could look at this stuff more in near a real time and make changes, we could then alter outcomes. I, as a doctor can build some quite good dashboards, customizing extra columns, pivoting it, turning it into different types of graphics, different types of charts, so quickly. - In normal times, a particular tool we were keen to use, is a report one can dive deeply into, and interrogate around results endorsement. In the olden days that would have involved potentially clinicians signing thousands and thousands of pieces of paper across a year, and now it can obviously be done at the touch of a button. During the Coronavirus pandemic we need it to see where our patients are at any one time, to help us with infection prevention and control. So, what we have available to us now is a report that refreshes, which tells us how many patients we have in the hospital at the moment, who've had a positive coronavirus swab test done, so it's proved a vital tool really. - What we've seen over the last couple of years are technologies coming in, to deliver the safest and most appropriate care for the patients. - It's kind of hard to imagine how we would have managed without it, to be honest.
