(upbeat music) - National Australia Bank is the second largest bank in Australia. We're nearly a hundred years old and applications that we have have been in development since the 80s. We've been looking at modernizing many of those applications. - NAB had a townhall event and one of the questions asked in that event was what are the common issues that you're faced with? One of the responses was "fix our browsers." And to put a bit of backstory behind that, we have five different browsers deployed to 45,000 endpoints, two and a half thousand applications getting error messages, having compatibility issues, caused an enormous amount of confusion for our staff. - Where we started with Microsoft Edge and the deployment of the single browser strategy was primarily based around better serving our colleagues to enable them to better serve our customers. The consolidation to a single browser has a number of advantages. As a banker, you don't need to know which application requires which browser. - Our legacy applications were behaving in Internet Explorer. The newer applications were, for the most part, optimized for Chrome. When Edge came along, it was extremely timely. It aligned with what we were doing. In there, we have the solution of our two top browsers in one. Edge is everything that Chrome is, plus Internet Explorer. - Having Microsoft Edge, they allowed us to use that backward compatibility to get us faster to market. We were able to deploy much faster. We had far less configuration changes that we needed to make. - That creates less work for our teams and also creates a standardized set of tooling for our security environment. That saved a significant amount of time in training, a significant amount of time in patching. - Historically our users needed to refer to a fairly complex guide as to which browser was to be used for which application. That's no longer required as everything just works in Edge for them. We could move to one browser and accommodate the overwhelming majority of our browser requirements. - They were able to improve productivity because they were able to be more effective in their role, especially when they're serving customers. - We're here to serve our customers. We're here to make sure that we can provide value to our customers.
