We understand that many teachers may be new to the virtual classroom environment so here is some helpful information that you may find useful as you prepare for your upcoming session.

FAQs

Have you accepted the meeting, but cannot find the original meeting invite in your email inbox? If this is the case, simply check your ‘Deleted Items’ inbox and search for mails from Microsoft Ireland Dream Space (drmspace@microsoft.com). Once you have found the mail in your Outlook Calendar or in your Deleted Items inbox, select ‘Join Microsoft Team Meeting’ (see image) in your email meeting invite. You will be taken to be taken to a page where you can choose to either download the Microsoft Teams Application, or simply join the call using your browser without the need to download anything. Once again, if you are having any trouble with this part, please reach out to drmspace@microsoft.com for assistance.

If you don’t have a Teams account and the organizer has allowed it, you may have the option to enter your name to join the meeting as a guest. If you do have a Teams account, select Sign in to join with access to the meeting chat and more. Then, depending on the organizer’s settings, you may join the meeting right away or go to the lobby where people in the meeting can admit you.
Microsoft Teams
To turn on your video before a meeting, just select Turn camera on right before you join.

The camera usually defaults to the front facing camera, if you have a rear facing camera please select the button below which will appear on the bottom right hand corner when you turn on your front facing camera.

When using external devices, after setting them up on your device, you must also change the Device Settings in your Teams Call.
Step 1: Click on the 'three dots/ellipses' in red below and choose "Device Settings".
Step 2: Choose the appropriate dropdown menu for the external device or devices you wish to use for the call.
- Speaker: If you are not using the default setting "PC Mic & Speakers" please select the appropriate speaker in the dropdown menu here. You can also quickly adjust the volume here.
E.g : If you have a projector which doubles as a speaker, please select this in the dropdown menu to use this as the speaker for the session.
- Microphone: If you are not using the default microphone on your device, please select the appropriate microphone in the dropdown. You can also test the microphone here with the gauge.
- Camera: If you are not using the built-in camera on your device, please select the appropriate camera in the dropdown after completing the install guidelines.
Teams Device Settings
In the unlikely event that your microphone is not working or if there are technical difficulties, we revert to the chat window to resolve any issue.
E.g: If the connection quality is distorting the camera quality, we will troubleshoot various solutions to ensure the best possible experience.
We have the ability to include 'live captioning' this function will automatically produce captions on the screen to allow anyone with hearing impairments to follow the DreamSpace Team as they conduct the session.
