When energy saver is on:
- It puts background tabs to sleep after 5 minutes or less of inactivity, if sleeping tabs is on.
- It may cause videos to be less smooth, animations to slow down when you're not interacting with the browser.
Energy saver works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The default for when it becomes active differs on each platform.
- For Windows, it follows Windows Battery Saver mode.
- For macOS, it turns on at 20%.
- For Linux, it’s off by default.
It reduces battery consumption by reducing the amount of system resources that are used by the browser.
