Installation and FAQ

How do I install Office?

After purchase, you can install Office at www.office.com/myaccount. For more information, see the FAQ.

What's the difference between Office 365 plans and Office 2016 suites?

Office 365 plans include the complete suite of Office applications, plus other services that are enabled over the Internet, including extra cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including Windows, iPad, and Android) and smartphones. Office 365 plans are available as a monthly or annual subscription. With Office 365, upgrades are always included with your subscription.

Office 2016 suites, including Office Home & Student and Home & Business, include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; they are available as a one-time purchase for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available.

Nice Product!

I have had Office since the early nineties. Every release Microsoft sends out gets better. Easy to navigate, find help on things and most importantly, solid functionality.

Excel stops while working

I use 'Street Smart Edge' to trade stocks on the stock market. I also use Excel to keep track of my trading. When I cut a trade from my stock page and Past it onto my sales page, Excel freezes and stops working. Street smart edge is connected to a Charles Schwab server and the interaction kills Excel.

This is my fifth year using it and I like it!

I am starting my 5th year of using Office, associated apps, and One Drive. I previously had the University edition, but chose to go a different direction when it was time for renewal. I have no negatives to bring up. It is what it is, and I don't expect 100% perfection or 100% satisfaction. I won't tolerate sub-standard products and apparently I don't consider this to fall in that category.

Flexibility in purchase stinks

The fact you cant buy a cd to use on multiple computers is bad. Furthermore, whenever I open Word it will not take me to my file list so I can open my files, but forces me to navigate through a load of garbage I don't want. Stick to the old program as long as possible.

Great experience

Finally made the move to Office 365 - so good to have the latest versions of the software on my Mac, plus have anytime/anywhere access. A slight learning curve from Mac 2011 to 2016 versions, but overall I like it a lot. Cloud is where it's all going, so no issue with paying for a subscription - and when I decided after 2 weeks that I wanted to upgrade from Personal to Home, the support person was very helpful. There should have been an upgrade button on the MSFT website but that's another story!
