Excellent but Unstable

Having played Enemy Unknown/Within, I believe that this game makes solid improvements coming from those titles. The soldier classes are more interesting and well balanced. Every piece of gear in the game has its uses which gives players a lot of good options with how to approach any given mission. A lot of missions include a timer mechanic which discourages players from moving slowly and throwing everyone on overwatch (which could make any mission trivial in Enemy Unknown). It's definitely a challenging strategy game, especially when a 99% chance can still fail, but it's more rewarding as a result. An engaging game overall. I didn't have many issues my first two campaigns, however my most recent campaign has gotten deadlocked by a glitch. This game is prone to crashes. Upon completing a mission, and either attempting to save or access to World View, the game will crash. This occurred from multiple save points in the same campaign and rendered it unbeatable as a result. Beware.

Good but I felt rushed

Im a big fan of enemy unknown/within and i couldnt wait to play this. Visually, the game looked better and actually felt like a sequel. However, the game always seemed to be rushing me. In some of the missions, not all, I had to accomplish an objective in a set number of turns. Sometimes it was 6 turns. I would have to rush my team to the objective, and then lose them to enemy fire from poor positions. On these same mission types I would be more strategical, like the game should be played, but run out of turns. This frustrated me so much that i had to stop playing and return the game, since it was rented. I dont mind having to rush a bit once in a while, but it is very disappointing when it changes how the game should be played. If you dont mind this, and dont mind losing a lot of your soldiers, then the game can be a lot of fun.

Challenging and Kinda buggy

The game its self is great i highly recommend it, now it dose cause some people problems their difficulty levels kinda lie... to be honest easy is like normal and normal is like hard. I can tell you if you dont like some challenge this probably isent the game for you. There is also another slight problem, yes like all games it has some bugs that should be looked into witch they probably are. Over all though if you like a challenge and dont mind all the minor bugs and just looking for a great game this is a game you should definitely check out.

Great except for unfair difficulty spikes

Mechanically and visually better than the original, XCOM 2 offers deeper squad customization, fun new classes like the sword-slashing Ranger, challenging new enemy types like the Viper and Archon, and a variety of new research and development options that open up interesting new tools, weapons and abilities for your troops. Despite all the good XCOM 2 offers, the game constantly rushes and pressures you between the abundancy of timed missions and the looming doomsday clock that gives you little opportunity to counter it. Most frustrating are the three boss enemies added with the Alien Hunter expansion. They appear very early in the game, have an estimated 60 or more health, get a reactionary move every time one of your soldiers moves, and can stun and incapacitate individual or multiple units. These things wiped three entire squads and left me with no choice but to spend all my money on rookies and then immediately send them into battle only to fight them again. Unfair!

Good game, very fast paced.

For a turn based game it rushes you constantly through world choices and missions. I didn't mind being rushed during missions, but on the global map you are bombarded with missions constantly, and I play on rookie for fun. Aside from this I have never played a game that froze or dashboarded while loading as much as this. These two issues aside the game is very enjoyable, count on losing soldiers early on...

Crashes at startup after update

It is really fun when you get pretty far in a game, it requires you to update before playing again, and then no longer works after update. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. I do not care about the new DLC if it renders the entire game unplayable. 2K, please fix now.

Addictive But Buggy As Hell

As far as the gameplay goes this is an awesome game. The best evidence I can give for that is the fact that I keep playing despite the ever more frequent crashes and other random glitches. It's getting to the breaking point, though. Most of the way through my third playthrough and it's at a point where it crashes roughly every thirty minutes.

A little different but a good sequel.

I don't have the freezing crashes That people keep talking about. The game is more fast paced. But with some planning and strategy it's manageable. They've improved upon the first and virtually every way. there are quite a few changes but I feel for the better. The campaign does feel a little short compare to the first but as with the first you can get around that. Wish they bring the long war mod to consoles.

Use Your Brain and You'll Do Just Fine.

First off ignore these 1 star reviews, they are just baffled by the difficulty. It's actually quite an easy game once you learn the ropes, though there are higher difficulties for those who want a real challenge. It's all about strategy, keeping your team together as a unit, knowing when to take defensive precautions, and building your team. there is a lot of luck needed for most shots you decide to take, so always have a backup plan for any move you make. Don't be careless and send a member into death without realizing, always expect the worst and you'll be prepared for anything. It's like a game of chess, know your opponents attack and movement range as well as your teams to remain one step ahead at all times. Follow through with these tips and you'll be gunning down every alien you come across without a scratch of hp missing. It just takes a little brain power, and if that's the kind of game you like, then you're in the right place.
