Online application

The MCT online application is available from the MCT enrolment tool.

If you are a Microsoft Office Specialist and do not have a Microsoft Certification ID (MC ID), obtain one by contacting customerservices@certiport.com. Then, go to the MCT enrolment tool. Before you complete your online application, review the MCT enrolment details in the section that follows.

Note In some regions, to start the online application process, you need to work with your Regional Service Centre. If you are a resident of any of these regions, you can find instructions on how to proceed in the MCT enrolment tool.

Use the MCT enrolment tool to:

  • Review the MCT program requirements, and sign the MCT Program Guide and Agreement. Your electronic signature validates your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions of the MCT Agreement.
  • Update your profile information. The contact information that you provide is used for MCT communications.
  • Specify your employment status. If you are employed by a Learning Partner or a Microsoft Imagine Academy, you need your employer's Learning Partner or Microsoft Imagine Academy ID number.
  • Select your payment method. Program fees vary, depending on your country/region and employment status. To find the MCT and MCT Alumni membership fees for your country/region, use the lookup tool at the end of the page.

Note If you are an employee of a Learning Partner and your employer will pay your MCT program fee, follow these steps:

  1. Purchase an MCT voucher from Courseware Marketplace.
  2. Complete an application in the MCT enrolment tool.
  3. Enter your MCT voucher code when prompted to pay for your program fee.

After you complete your application and payment, watch for your MCT welcome email. You can then access MCT content on your benefits and exams dashboard.

MCT Alumni program

For more than two decades, MCTs have been at the forefront of Microsoft technology training and adoption. In recognition of their significant contributions, we offer the MCT Alumni program. This program is for all MCTs in good standing with Microsoft who no longer train as part of the MCT program and who desire to maintain their relationship with the MCT community.

Requirements for the MCT Alumni program:

  • In good standing with Microsoft

Use the MCT enrolment tool to do the following:

Moving from MCT Alumni to MCT

MCT Alumni are welcome to rejoin the MCT program when they return to active training.

To return as an MCT:

  • Make sure that you meet the MCT program requirements. Check your transcript against the current Microsoft Certifications and qualifications eligible for the MCT program.
  • Cancel your MCT Alumni membership. Contact your Regional Service Centre, and ask them to cancel your current MCT Alumni membership.
  • Apply for entry to the MCT program. MCT Alumni can either provide proof of the instructional skills certification they obtained to support their prior application to the MCT program, or they can submit a reference validating at least one year of instructional experience. This reference can be from a former customer, manager or colleague.
MCT and MCT Alumni program fees

Find the annual MCT program fees and introductory MCT Alumni fees for your country/region. If you are employed by a Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions, you qualify to receive a 25% discount on the fee. If you are employed by a Microsoft Imagine Academy, you qualify to receive a 50 percent discount on the fee.

Note Microsoft charges any applicable taxes for your country/region, in addition to the program fee.

Renewal and enrolment

What are the renewal requirements?
To qualify for renewal, an MCT needs to have taught at least one class in the prior year, with an average Metrics That Matter (MTM) score of seven or higher as verified by MTM, and the MCT needs to hold a qualifying certification.
Where do I find my renewal deadline?
The MCT and MCT Alumni renewal deadline (or anniversary date) can be found on the Profile page (the first page) of the MCT enrolment tool. MCTs can also find their anniversary date in the "Microsoft Certified Trainer certification history" section of their transcript.
When can I renew my MCT membership?
You can renew your MCT membership 90 days prior to your renewal deadline (or anniversary date).
I missed my renewal deadline. How do I fix this?
If you missed your renewal deadline, you can apply as a reinstated MCT through the MCT enrolment tool. To re-apply, you need to have a current, qualifying certification.
How do I rejoin the MCT program?
To rejoin the MCT program, former MCTs can re-apply as "reinstated MCTs" through the MCT enrolment tool. To apply as a reinstated MCT, you must have a qualifying certification.
When will my MCT renewal or reinstated application be approved?
MCT renewal and reinstated applications are approved 24–48 hours after payment is successfully processed.
What are the requirements for a first-time MCT applicant?
A first-time MCT applicant must possess a current Microsoft certification and must provide proof of instructional skills documentation. For more information, see the "Requirements" section of this page.
I'm applying to the MCT program for the first time. When will my application be approved?
Your application will be approved after your instructional skills documentation has been reviewed and approved and after your payment is processed.
What is a qualifying certification?

MCT Software & Services

Why is my Office 365 subscription no longer available?
The Office 365 subscription for IT Professional and Information Worker MCTs is only a one-year trial, as provided through the MCT Software & Services subscription. After that year, MCTs have the option to extend the subscription but need to pay the monthly cost.
Can I use the MCT Software & Services software for personal use?
No, the MCT Software & Services software cannot be used for personal use. The MCT Software & Services subscription is a one-licence-per-user subscription and is for testing and development purposes only.

MCT Alumni program

How do I switch from the MCT Alumni program to the MCT program?
An active MCT Alumni can upgrade to the MCT program through the MCT enrolment tool if he or she meets the program requirements.
Can I receive a refund for my MCT Alumni fee when I switch to the MCT program?
If your MCT Alumni application was placed within the previous 90 days, your payment will be applied toward your MCT membership payment.
I accidentally started an MCT Alumni application instead of an MCT application. How do I fix this?

However, the MCT transcript still includes the "Active Microsoft Certifications" and "Exams Completed" sections. To determine which certifications or exams are required to teach a specific course, please consult the MCT competencies list on your MCT Dashboard.
