N!xau

N!Xau was born and raised among the !Kung San hunter gatherers of the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. He knew nothing of "civilization" until he was "discovered" by director Jamie Uys, and cast as the star in the filmmaker's satirical The Gods Must Be Crazy (1984), a slapstick, pseudo documentary about a bushman who must contend with a Coke bottle and the baffling modernities it represents. N!Xau has since gone on to appear in the film's official sequel and two Hong Kong versions of the story.
