Figure of Merit is mathematical way of expressing the accuracy of a weapon. It is the average distance from the center of a group (this application uses the British Standard of a 20 shot group) to the mean point of impact. From an accuracy standpoint it is considered more useful that just simple overall group size. It was developed during the Victorian era, and was the most common way that arms of that time were judged in regards to their accuracy.
