Game Preview This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time or release as a final product. Purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game. We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial in the city of Wellington Wells. Set in a drug-fuelled, retrofuturistic city in an alternative 1960s England, you’ll have to blend in with its other inhabitants, who don’t take kindly to people who don’t abide by their not-so-normal rules. ***1960s Dystopian England*** Set in a retrofuturistic 1960s, you will find a city ravaged by war and rebuilt by delusionally happy people. Everything appears to be happy in Wellington Wells, including the roads, the people, and its omnipresent television personality, Uncle Jack! However, it’s a beautiful world on the brink of collapse. You will discover the history of this world, and how it came to be just so beguilingly happy. ***Suspicion and Joy*** We Happy Few is about surviving in and escaping from a procedurally generated world, where you must learn to hide in plain sight. If you act out of turn, or you’re not on Joy (the local happy pills), the locals will become suspicious and will rapidly turn your frown upside down! Forcefully. You will need to practice conformity, stealth and combat if you want to survive long enough to escape. ***A Mature Story*** We Happy Few’s characters are not typical video game heroes. They are flawed and not particularly heroic, warped by the trauma their world has been through. Each character has their own storyline that reacts to the events of the world around them, and their place within it. Our stories are definitely not appropriate for children, but are laced with dark humour, hope, and even a spot of redemption. ***Features*** In We Happy Few, you will experience: - A procedurally generated world, meaning that everyone’s experience will be unique, - A range of difficulties for new and experienced players alike, - Permadeath, if you want to satisfy all your masochistic needs, - Three modes: sandbox, story and Wellie mode, - A unique soundtrack, and - A fully voiced, cinematic, first person story. And you can play it in your own style: - Fill your basic needs (hunger, thirst, and sleep) to survive, - Learn how to interact with the other members of your society, and choose stealth, conformity or combat, - Encounter dozens of in-game unique events, - Conform to the specific local habits by learning to behave accordingly, and taking your Joy, - Collect recipes, scavenge items and craft dozens of weapons, tools and devices, fight with your bare hands or the crazy weapons you create, watch out for traps, or learn how to use them to your advantage. Note: not all of these features will be available during Game Preview! They will become available as we develop them, leading up to the full release of the game. Could be Great!

Just finished the timed demo (unsure why demos are timed versus giving us a section of game to play) and thought it would be worth a buy. There was quite a bit of twitching in some of the NPCs however (unintentional) and one was floating mid-air, asleep beside her bed at night. I didn't find any consequences for robbing people after assaulting them. I got caught hiding an unconscious person, so I beat up that person and hid them in some bushes as well. I guess we can be thankful this isn't GTA or Elder Scrolls where you commit a crime forty-eight miles away from civilisation and all of a sudden the whole force is after you because there's no way it could have been anyone else... I burnt probably fifteen minutes of the trial trying to get out of the safehouse. Other than the very few minor issues I noticed, I think the game will do quite well. There's still a bit of time before release so improvements can be made.

Cool Game

I'd like more details as to what is and isn't included in the preview, what can i look forward to, and how much can I enjoy now. Otherwise the game looks and feels great and I can't wait for the full release, I am just sceptical when it comes to the preview.

Great for where it is in development (pre-alpha/alpha)

Amazing fun game, but I do agree with everyone else where it could be Easen up on with how I'm constantly tired and hungry/thirsty

Always Hungry and Hard To Find Food

The game is fun to play but the need to always be looking for something to eat doesnt makes the game as enjoyable. if the food was easy to find like water is it wouldnt be much of a problem or if the food lasted longer and not have to spend most of your time looking for food before you strave to death.

Soooo hungry

Ease up on the constant need for food and water, it's killing my joy. Fun otherwise.

Cool af but needs work

Could use more guidance and a better map interface. Also it is pretty annoying to constantly be trying to sleep/eat/drink enough to avoid debufs/death. Maybe if the sleep etc. icons were more like scales and as the scale gets lower and lower the severity of the debuf could increase accordingly. In regards to the debuf system as a whole, make things DRAIN SLOWER PLEASE it is just too distracting from all of the cool stuff there is to see and figure out. I love the concept and cannot wait to see where you go with it

Great idea, poor delivery.

We Happy Few's drug fueled storyline seems awesome but the current state of the game is lacking quite a few things and is really buggy. Yes i know its a game preview but it doesnt seem worth the price for whats currently available.

Perfect Adult Distraction for the Literate

love it for the darkness and light morality changes. Feels like a story of addiction, which seems current with the days of today.
