What exactly is Office 365 Education?

Office 365 Education is a collection of services that allows you to collaborate and share your schoolwork. It’s available for free to students who are currently attending an academic institution. Office 365 Education includes Office Online (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote), 1TB of OneDrive storage, Yammer, and SharePoint sites. Some schools allow students to install the full Office applications on up to 5 PCs or Macs for free. If your school provides this additional benefit, you'll see the Install Office button on your Office 365 home page after you complete sign-up. For more information about using Office, visit the Office 365 Learning Centre or Office Training Centre.

Does “free” really mean free?

Yup! No ifs, ands, or buts. If you’re eligible for free Office 365 through your educational institution, you can download and use Office 365 across up to 5 devices for as long as you are a member of the eligible institution.

What are the minimum system requirements for Office 365 Education?

To install Office 365 Education, your PC or Mac must meet the minimum system requirements. View the system requirements. Office for iPad can be installed on iPads running version 7.0 or higher. For information about mobile devices, visit www.office.com/mobile.

How do I get my free Office 365 Education?

  1. Using virtually any device (Windows, Mac, iPad, iOs & Android), search for your eligibility here.
  2. If you are eligible, click through to enter your school-provided email address. If you don’t have a school-provided email address, let us know.
  3. Follow the link that was sent to your school-provided email address and complete the registration.
  4. Select language and install Office.
  5. Sign-in using your school-provided email address.

What if I’m eligible for free Office 365 Education, but I don’t have school-issued credentials?

You require school-issued credentials to access your free Office 365. If you’re a student at an eligible school, but don’t have school-issued credentials.

The free Office 365 subscription you receive through your educational institution ends upon graduation. You may subscribe to other consumer or commercial offers available. If you have Office 365 through your school, be sure to transfer all your files from your school OneDrive to your personal OneDrive prior to graduation.
