The Microsoft Store Trade-in Program is powered by Recommerce™, a company that specialises in electronics reuse and recycling. You get cash back and your used device gets a new home—or Recommerce will recycle your device at no cost to you. Recycled devices are not eligible for cashback.

  • The Microsoft Store Trade-in Program powered by Recommerce™ lets you trade in an eligible used device for  cash back. Just answer a few questions about the brand, model, and condition of your used device and Recommerce™ will provide an appraisal that reflects a fair estimate of your device’s condition and value. For trade-in promotions that require the purchase of a new Surface or Xbox qualifying device from Microsoft Store, you’ll be asked to upload a proof-of-purchase PDF.

  • If you approve of the trade-in value, you will be asked to confirm some personal details. Then, print the prepaid shipping label and ship your used device to Recommerce™. Once your used device is received, inspected, and approved, Recommerce™ will issue cash to your bank account within 30 days.

  • If your used device isn’t eligible for trade-in as determined by Recommerce after inspection, Recommerce will contact you. You still have the option to recycle the device through Microsoft’s recycling resources in your region or you can request that Recommerce return it to you. Devices that do not meet trade-in requirements and that are recycled are not eligible for cash back.

  • Recommerce™ is a France-based company that specialises in consumer electronics trade-ins, IT asset disposition, and reverse logistics. It runs the Microsoft Store Trade-in Program in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

  • Once your used device is received, inspected, and approved, Recommerce™ will issue cash back via bank transfer within 30 days.

  • During your trade-in process you will be asked to answer a few questions about the brand, model, and condition of your used device. This information will then enable Recommerce™ to provide an appraisal that reflects a fair estimate of your device’s value.

  • The devices that are eligible for trade-in occasionally change. For the latest eligibility and value information please refer to the Recommerce™ trade-in page.

  • Yes, you can. Recommerce™ accept gaming consoles including Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X and more.

  • If your old device is ineligible for trade-in, we can recycle your device for you. We partner with recycling organizations, join forces with collection schemes, and work with our supply chain partners to facilitate the return and end-of-life management process of devices, batteries, and packaging.
