Great! But Disappointing

Looks beautiful with fun, punchy shoot outs and the story is told in a fresh, interesting, documentary style. But the missions lack variety, so it can become repetitive and boring fairly quickly

a game you can't refuse

I haven't stopped playing since launch few graphical & weather bugs but apart from that it's mind blowing

Mafia's Return

The return of this glorious franchise almost made me cry from enjoyment at the first trailer release back in late 2015, and the return of previous characters made me that tad more ecstatic about its release. While Mafia's story is completly astounding with great voice actors (whom to some have returned to yet again voice their previous characters), perfect lip syncing and a beautiful narrative it does possess some negative attributes to which varies from a bad sky-box to repetitive gameplay. The gameplay consists of you taking over and assigning up to 9 districts to your underbosses, the way you take over these districts is exactly the same, although the driving and gun play is in fact great. Overall this game is heavily story based and mostly tries to attract to previous players of Mafia 2 as a lot of the story refers back to it and clears up the cliffhanger gamers were on, making the game slightly difficult for new players to get to grips with.

This game is fantastic. The characters are immediately interesting, the story is very intruiging so far, cut scenes are directed and written perfectly, the 1960's style is consistent and immersive and the racism during the time period is tackled head on. The combat is much more varied than Mafia 2 as you can now choose stealth or shooting. So far my only downsides are the driving mechanics (which admittedly are growing on me) and the graphical glitches which could be fixed (e.g. draw distance in mirrors, random flickerings from light to dark which i think is supposed to be clouds covering the sun but it just looks weird). to summarise, this game has so far been an extremely enjoyable experience and while it sets a very different tone to the previous game, I'm sure you'll enjoy it edit: love the driving, most bugs fixed, also i've noticed many more minor things that just make this game even better

I like the fact that it is set in the late 1960s and that it has vito. it has solid mechanics and fun gameplay. BUT it is EXTREMELY repetitive and you will find it very hard to find something to other than the story missions (although i did hear that they are currently making customisation options which is nice). Speaking of story missions, it is the exact same mission over and over but with a different location, after the mission you get a cutscene that sometimes has nothing to do with the mission. it's just: kill people, collect money, burn things then kill more people. I really wanted it to be "game of the year" as i love the mafia franchise but i feel it was rushed in the end with the repetitive missions and lack of things to do outside of the story missions.

Really wished it was better

Had so much potential to be a proper next gen experience but it fails on many points. I was so hyped for this game after loving the last one, and they have even stripped some features that made it's predecessor so immersive. It doesn't feel like a game released in 2016, suffice to say gta 5 on last gen looks better, performs better and isn't as repetitive. The AI is appalling and the sky looks like a kids watercolour. I will complete as much as I can, preferably the story (its one faultless quality) as I love the setting and the interaction of its characters. I hope they release a patch soon to fix its problems, as I really want this game to be what it could have been at launch.

A bit of a shame

You could be forgiven for believing that the main district missions are side missions as they are lacking in any real variety and some of the in game graphics, like the sky box, at times can be questionable unfortunately I also came across numerous bugs and game crashes but the games autosave feature is near perfect witch pretty handy as there is no manual save option. The cutscenes in Mafia 3 are some of the best I've ever seen in a game along with the acting and when the story is actually being told, witch is almost always though cutscenes, it's easily on par with the previous game but I did find myself wanting to just get to the next cutscene after getting about half way through the story. The prologue of Mafia 3 is slower then the rest of the game witch is a nice change of pace and in my opinon the best part of the game, there's very little to do in the game world aside from collecting collectables. All in all not a bad game but could do better and a little bit of a let down.

enjoyable to play, great storyline, interesting characters... but AI is poor, half decent graphics and crashing every hour or so is a complete joke

Superb Story driven game, great world building, bad QA

Fantastic; story, cutscenes, style, audio and atmosphere. Very detailed world with a great many things majority of players will miss, for example when driving lincoln has animations for accurate gear changes, drumming steering to radio and natural and realistic seeming fidgeting as apposed to a static sitting position. I have noticed alot more of these small extra details that help sell the world but unfortunately these do not mske up for the poor optimisation as i have faced severval game crashes apart from the more common open world bugs. So all in all fun game with great story with nods to mafia 2, let down by bad QA. NOTE GAMEPLAY(LOOP) NOT FOR ALL AS IT CAN GET REPETATIVE AND MAYBE BORING FOR SOME P.S. MY SCORE IS GENEROUS AS I HAD FUN AND WAS WILLING TO OVERLOOK TECH ISSUES FOR GAMES DARK MATURE STORY.

When I say it needs fixes I mean it needs an overhaul because the texture is way too blurry and the rear view mirror in vehicles looks like Mafia 1 or a Dev build version of the game. Also the fact there isn't ANY form of customisation at launch compared to Mafia 2 where you could buy clothing from the stores is ridiculous. I paid for the Deluxe Edition and all i've recieved whilst starting up the game is 1 out of 2 of the pre-order DLC's and no Season Pass conent to enjoy whilst I play through the campaign. Something needs to be done or at least announced on 2K/Hangar 13's social media pages' soon.
