Frequently asked questions
The Workplace Discount Programme allows employees at eligible companies to buy an annual subscription of Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Personal at a discount for use on personal devices. In selected markets, eligible employees also receive a discount on selected Surface devices and accessories.
Workplace Discount Programme offers for Microsoft 365 and Surface devices are not available in the same transaction and must be purchased in two separate transactions.
The Microsoft Home Use Programme name was updated to Microsoft Workplace Discount Programme in July 2022. Any previously purchased discounted products are not affected by the change in the programme name. You’ll continue to receive discounted rates on qualified subscriptions if you keep auto-renewal turned on.
Yes. If you already have Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Personal, you can still take advantage of this discount. Once you purchase, additional time is added to your existing subscription, and the discounted rate will begin at your existing subscription’s annual renewal date. Be sure to specify the Microsoft account that’s associated with your current Microsoft 365 subscription during the purchase process.
Microsoft has updated the Workplace Discount Programme (formerly known as the Home Use Programme or HUP) to offer discounts on the latest versions of Microsoft 365 Personal and Family, which are always up to date with premium versions of Office apps across all your devices. In selected markets, eligible employees also receive a discount on selected Surface devices and accessories.

Workplace Discount Programme reduced pricing on Visio Professional 2021 and Project Professional 2021 is only available if your employer’s Workplace Discount Programme administrator has selected you for one or more product-specific discounts.
