No Better than Last Year

In some ways, PES 2017 actually quite a bit worse than its predecessor. Dribbling is much slower and less responsive, the new deadline day transfers in the Master League mode are pointless - you can inexplicably only agree one deal at a time, which takes 3 hours from the clock for each negotiation round - and the baffling partnership with Barcelona utterly fails to make up for the many lost team licences. Crippling input lag once again destroys online play for the miniscule community which remains, while no significant changes have been made to the Become a Legend or MyClub modes. To top it all off, Option File importing is unavailable - putting the Xbox game at an instant disadvantage to its Sony equivalent, which has circumvented licencing issues and even the omission of entire leagues. Despite all of this, PES continues to be the best, most fluid and most fun offline football game around - but its mounting flaws are becoming more difficult to ignore with each passing year. 7/10
