Great except Assign Resources button causes crash!

I installed Microsoft Project 2016 onto my PC (running Windows 10) on 18 February and I got error message 'unhandled win32 exception occurred in winproj.exe [24448] using Microsoft Project 2016' when I clicked on the Assign Resources button. Then Microsoft Project 2016 shuts down. However when I downloaded, saved and ran the patch issued on 9 February (KB3114714 from here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114714) I got the message that 'There are no products affected by this package installed on this system.' Does this mean the patch itself is broken? I have definitely got Microsoft Project 2016 installed on my PC (running Windows 10). Has anyone else run into this problem and figured out a solution? I have asked it on the Microsoft Forums but no-one seems to know.
